Thank you so much John Evans for nominating me for the Liebster Award, it is much appreciated! Having served in the US Marine Corps, he writes sincerely raw and powerful poetry, and his work is definitely worth a read. Please check out John’s blog by clicking here.
Rules for the nomination:
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
- Answer the 11 questions given to you.
- Share 11 facts about yourself.
- Nominate 5-11 other bloggers.
- Ask your nominees 11 questions of your choice – for my nominees, answer the same questions that I did!
- Notify your nominees once you have uploaded your post.
John’s questions and my answers:
1. Have you or do you ever want to write a book?
I’m not sure this counts but when I was in primary school I wrote a few short kid’s books – mainly picture books! These were written (or scrawled) in pencil on folded bits of A4 paper stapled into ‘books’. However, I’ve also thought about writing a proper book before. I’ve attempted to start a novel a couple times in my child/teen hood but to no avail. Who knows, I might try again in the future.
2. How long have you been blogging and what is your favourite subject to write about?
Well, I started this blog in 2018 when I was 15, but I posted EXTREMELY inconsistently! That was until March this year, when the UK went into lockdown due to coronavirus. Since then, I’ve been working on my blog more and I also started a separate travel blog. I can’t say I’ve got a favourite subject to write about, I’m quite spontaneous when it comes to writing poetry (as well as in general) so usually I’ll just get any sort of idea for a poem, start writing, and see how it goes. That being said, I do have a favourite poem of mine, called ‘Moonshine’. It was fun to write because it was completely fictional; I had this scenario in my head and I just imagined being in the scene in the shoes of the narrator, like I could honestly hear all sounds, see all the things and smell all the scents I wrote about.
3. If you could move to a different town, state or country… where would you be?
Damn, there are a few places I would love to go. I’m just gonna go on a whim and say Spain. I’m not too sure why, but that was just one of the first places that popped into my head when I read the question. I can just imagine myself living in a cheap, modest flat, and hearing the chatter and bustle as I walk through the city streets on a stuffy day.
4. What is your favourite quality about yourself?
Haha I don’t know! I guess I like how I have a pretty chill attitude to life in general and I’m just going with the flow? Actually I’m pretty sure that’s not much of a ‘quality’ as such, it’s just an attribute that I like having. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
5. Are you an introvert or an extrovert or even both?
I’m a bit of a fluctuating introvert/extrovert, so I might be quite extroverted for a couple weeks, then quite introverted for a month or two. I’ve also done the 16 personalities test a few times over the past few years, and each time I’ve been quite balanced in terms of being introverted/extroverted (around 50% for either). However, I do feel that I’m more of an introvert overall, and my introvert ‘phases’ are generally longer than my extrovert ‘phases’.
6. What is THE JOB of your dreams?
I don’t have a dream job. I cannot pinpoint one job that I just wish I could do. Instead, here are a few of the jobs that I’ve EVER wanted to do, including from when I was like 4 years old: astronaut; actress; author; singer/songwriter; secret agent; TV presenter; mechanical engineer; astronomer.
7. Other than blogging/writing what is the one favourite thing you LOVE to do?
I don’t think I can pick just one thing! Before lockdown, I loved to just go and explore; whether I just walked around the school looking for things and places I usually didn’t (I was a boarder), or I walked around the local area in any random direction and taking various turns without a care of getting lost. I also love music, both playing and listening. Stargazing is another thing – the night sky is bloody beautiful, and the whole science and concept of space is just mind-blowing. I am very much a thrill-seeker, so just give me anything adventurous or exciting to do and I’ll probably be happy.
8. Where is one of the first places you plan on going after quarantine is over?
If it’s after my 18th birthday – to the pub 😛
9. Speaking of Covid-19 is there anything that you learned about yourself or will be changing about yourself when ‘life moves on?’
I’ve learnt to appreciate toilet paper more :)))
10. Is there anything as far as food that you will absolutely NOT eat?
Nothing in particular comes to mind, but there’s a whole world of non-appealing food out there that I would hesitate to try, unless there’s a prize of course.
11. Do you own a website for your writing?

Thank you for your kind nomination – however, I am one of those writers that just write and seek no plaudits. My words in their poems and stories may, at times, deserve praise and sone adoration, but I am just their editor and the hapless word-sorter to assist their strange messages.
Thank you once again and keep on writing – Graeme:)
